WILLIAM HILL ACQUIRES US BOOKMAKER |
WILLIAM HILL has signed a binding agreement to acquire Brandywine Bookmaking LLC, a land-based sportsbetting firm that operates in the American states of Nevada and Delaware, for $14.25 million. The UK bookmaker has approximately 2,350 shops domestically and this Brandywine acquisition follows the company's recent agreements to purchase land-based sportsbook operators American Wagering Incorporated and the Club Cal Neva Satellite Race and Sportsbook Division in America for approximately $39 million. Nevada, which alongside Delaware, Montana and Oregon allows legalised sportsbetting, was the largest market last year with estimated turnover of $2.7 billion and gross win of $151 million generated from approximately 190 locations. Brandywine, which employs around 90 people, operates 16 sportsbooks in Nevada under the Lucky's brand, alongside one on the Caribbean island of St Kitts.
